Book Description: Twenty years of cleaning windows has given Jack Wilde an interesting insight into the private lives of others, and what really goes on behind closed doors. He's about to commit them to the printed page, and he's holding nothing back!
Excerpt from the book: "Here's a recipe for disaster. Take one feckless individual, add a generous measure of strong alcohol, a pinch of bravado and finally, one dumb challenge. Yes, there's a lot of stupidity out there and I'm afraid to say I contributed to it, but I still blame the wife, or to be more exact, the ex-wife for the unfortunate accident I suffered - the Friesian cow in the middle of the field was merely incidental..
When I arrived at Hairmyers I was in a terrible state for a man of thirty-nine. I was ashamed, my trousers were ripped and caked with mud and cow shit and I had lost my new mobile phone and a shoe somewhere in the field (even worse there was a large hole in my sock, thank god I had clean underwear on). They had refused to look for it and said they were too scared to go into the field with the fierce cow. Cowards.
The attending nurse was not too pleased, nor did she try to hide the fact - no sympathy, not even for someone with a broken ankle.
So as you can see, all of this was my ex-wife's fault for divorcing me. I'm still right about the 'cow pushing' thing by the way, and one day I'll prove it to them when I work up enough courage."
About the Author: Stephen Murray works in East Kilbride trying to eke a meagre living out of cleaning windows. He lives in the picturesque village of Strathaven and his writing is inspired by two essential things - the bohemian mix of people in his neighbourhood and the charming view from his 19th century house. This is his second novel after 'Burning Bridges' (2004) and a third is presently underway.
